    looks like marsden hartley struggling in the late 50’s (although I guess he was dead by then). you could make some argument also for very sloppy frank stella during that formative period, but there’s just too much stuff there. what I would say is this though…. as a struggling artist during this time period, this painting will never get her over to The Factory. she should stick with the smack, even pollock’s gone by no. but thx anyway.

  2. The colors and shapes are a little like some early paintings by Mark Rothko or Adolph Gottlieb. Seems like someone on the way to a mature Abstract Expressionist style.
